Find Me in July Releases!

Find Me in July Releases!

I may be dating myself by saying this, but I was 14 years old in 1978 when this book takes place. My grandparents also had a condo on the lake at Breezy Point Resort and I spent my summers up there as a kid. Sort of like Jessie and Troy do in this book:) So, yes, writing this book helped me relive some very fond memories of my childhood in that special place and that is why it takes place there. Back then, me and the friends I met up there did all those things that Jessie and Troy do, including the weed on the golf course, the frisbee, playing pool at The Commander (which is still there) and boating out at Gooseberry Island.

The other part of writing this book included researching what gay life was like in my hometown of Minneapolis back then. I do remember driving by the Gay 90’s as a teen and wondering at all the men on the sidewalk and not really understanding what was going on.

I was proud to find out that Minneapolis, along with New York and San Francisco, was one of the most liberal and safe places for people in the LGBTQ+ community. This was something I didn’t know about when the plot bunny for this book started screaming inside my head (and boy, did it scream). Now on to the good stuff…

Giveaway!

Three winners of the Rafflecopter giveaway will be able to pick their choice of any of my published works, including this book. There is also a prequel read for this book if you sign up for my newsletter. 🙂

And Now, A Teaser:

Troy followed Jessie to the van, parked outside his family cabin. The lone streetlight hovering at the edge of the woods lit up the side. The cool night air, still heavy with the threat of rain, shivered over his skin. As he grasped the door handle, he glanced at him.

Jessie gazed at him with wide eyes, holding a canvas bag in one hand and his boom box in the other. He licked his lips.

A rush of desire worked up Troy’s spine. Tonight, he was willing to take things further. He slid the door open and crept inside, his c*ck swelling with anticipation. He’d been looking forward to this all day, and after what Jessie had said in the men’s bathroom, things seemed different. They were closer.

Jessie stepped into the van and shut the door, then crawled to him and sat on the shag carpeting, his legs tucked underneath him. “So, do you want to get high first tonight?”

“I don’t know. Do you?” Troy placed his hand on Jessie’s cheek. He would if he wanted to.

Jessie brushed his cheek against Troy’s hand, focusing on him. “Yeah, I do.” He slid his baggie of joints out of the canvas bag.
“Okay.” Troy tugged the circular table out of the floor, then set it behind the front seats and pulled on the couch frame, making it into a bed. As he sat on the bed, Jessie handed him a lit joint. “Thanks.” He took a long drag, then freed a plume of smoke. His head buzzed. He gave the joint back.

Jessie sucked on the joint, held it, then released it. “So, I told you I wanted to try something tonight.” He held the joint to Troy.

Troy dragged off the joint a second time, then handed it back to Jessie. “That’s enough for me.” He had an idea what Jessie wanted to do. He was pretty sure he was ready.

Jessie took another hit from the joint, pinched it out and tucked it into the baggie, then set it on the cabinet counter. “So, I brought something.”

“You didn’t bring your Playguy again, did you?” Troy released a soft giggle and covered his mouth with his hand. The weed was getting to him.

Jessie smirked and shook his head once. “No, I didn’t. You goon.” He reached into the canvas bag and pulled out a jar of Vaseline, then held it up. He spread a broad grin over his face.

Troy widened his eyes. “I see…” It was what he’d thought. Every night, Jessie had been going on about how good it felt. “Okay, so who goes first?”

“Troy, you know I know what I’m doing, right?” Jessie rested the Vaseline jar in his lap.

“Yeah.” Troy gnawed on his lip. “So, you want to shove your finger inside my a$$.” He burst out giggling. Maybe he shouldn’t have had the second hit on the joint.

Jessie joined him in a round of giggles. “Do you have to say it like that?” He wiped his eyes and calmed. “Damn, man.”

“So, what is this supposed to do?” Troy fought to keep a straight face. This was serious to Jessie for some reason. He squirmed. This conversation was not a turn on.

Finally the Trilogy is Complete!

Finally the Vampire Trilogy is Complete!

Gay for You – Blood Play – First Times – Bonded Partners – Age Gap (In Vampire Years)

This series started for me about eight years ago when I had an idea about a vampire story that would take characters from two of my favorite animes at the time and pair them together. I was thinking of something along the lines of Alucard from Hellsing paired with Haji from Blood+. But of course, these things take on a mind of their own and Sebastian and Julian were born instead:)

After writing the first two books, my personal life became very complicated, including losing my mother suddenly, and I was unable to finish the third book. I took six long years off from writing. Thank goodness, that’s all over and today, the Trilogy is done and released at all retailers. Finally, there is an HEA for Sebastian and Julian.

Giveaways!

There is a raffle (there is always a raffle) for six of you to win your choice of books 1 or 2 in the series.

On to the Excerpt...

“You know I have to find out.” Julian’s heart pounded in his chest as if it would break free. There was no way anyone could keep him from finding out if his family was indeed here. He scanned the room, wearing only his jeans, at the leather couch and contemporary furnishings of their family room, at Sebastian’s beloved gold and red, Romanian icons hanging from the walls.

With an audible exhale, Sebastian shut his eyes tight and pinched the bridge of his nose, his black hair falling in waves to his shoulders over his black, button-down shirt, his bottom half still bare after their lovemaking. “Let this wait until tomorrow.” He breathed deeply and looked at Julian with black, almond-shaped eyes. “Tomorrow we will meet with my father. You can bring it to his attention.”

Julian stared at Sebastian. Would they let me see them? What would I do if they said no? He opened his mouth to speak but clamped it shut.

Sebastian stepped to Julian, then took his hand in his and kissed his cheek, sliding his long, chestnut-colored hair to the side. “We’ve had a very busy day today. Let us go to bed and deal with this in the morning.”

He nodded his head. The haze of possibility threatened to overwhelm him. “You’re right.” As he strolled with Sebastian into the hallway, he stopped at Nikolai’s door, opened it, and peeked inside. Nikolai was still here. He released a long exhale.

Nikolai lay fast asleep in a mission-style bed with a tan comforter drawn up to his chin. The crescent moon shining outside an open window above the bed gave the twelve-year-old boy a blue glow to his blond hair.

“Come on.” Sebastian tugged at Julian’s hand.

“We almost lost him.” Momentary panic pricked his heart. The memory of the fight with Caesar in the cave came rushing forward. He shut it away. Caesar was dead and they were safe now.

“And I almost lost both of you.” As Sebastian wrapped his arms around Julian’s shoulders from behind, he whispered into his ear, “It’s over now. Come to bed.”

He followed Sebastian into the doorway of their master bedroom, wrinkling his brow. His family was out there. How long would it take to fall asleep knowing that?

Random Hallway Hook-Ups and Why I Love Writing M/M by Daisy Harris

When I set out to write my M/M romance novel, Mercury Rising, I had questions – lots of questions. Luckily, I had an army of gay followers on Twitter to query. See, I have gay friends in real life, but there are some things I’m not comfortable asking people I actually know. Details about sex are high on that list.

One of my earliest queries pertained to the first love scene between Dillon and Mercury. I wanted them to hook up randomly in a deserted hallway. I didn’t want them to talk at length beforehand. I didn’t want them to build a rapport. In fact, I aimed for each of them to objectify the other in that first interaction. Sometimes we (gay or straight) want to make out with a fantasy. Why ruin a perfectly good illusion by getting to know the person?

I wondered, though, was I stereotyping gay men as sluts? Was I wrong to think a couple of young, hot gay guys would blow each other on a loading dock based on nothing but mutual attraction and a desire for slightly self-destructive fun?

No. According my Twittosphere, a couple of men would have no moral compunctions whatsoever about shagging in a deserted hallway. And that, in a word, is why I love men.

Firstly, the random hallway hook-up worked out great with my plot. So, yay. Second, it’s so refreshing to not have to deal with the whole “slut” issue. It’s pretty hard to write a female character having anonymous, meaningless sex. There’s judgment, censure, feelings. So even though some women do occasionally enjoy casual sex, it can be hard to write about it.

Not so with gay men! Boys can have meaningless sex with anyone they want, even in a romance novel! To a female writer, this is a revelation. Sex without feeling, and emotion without sex – it’s a fascinating concept, and one I hope to explore more as I continue to write male-male.

And I’m sure there are men who can’t have meaningless sex, men who fall in love with anyone they get physical with. But that doesn’t seem to be the norm. Boys are different and hot and it’s exciting to think of them doing all the things with eachother that I’d never dareHow about you? Why do you like to write (or read) male-male romance.

More about Daisy Harris:

Birkenstock-wearing glamour girl and mother of two by immaculate conception, Daisy Harris still isn’t sure if she writes erotica. Her paranormal romances start out innocently enough. However, her characters behave like complete sluts. Much to Miss Harris’s dismay, the sex tends to get completely out of hand. She writes about trampy mermaids, sexy dragons, and snuff-y shark-shifters. Her work also features zombie ingenues, horny gods, and some holiday characters like you’ve never seen them before. And there’s almost always a mad scientist in there somewhereIf you like science-y subplots, fantastical creatures, and red-hot chemistry, you’ll love Daisy Harris. You can find her on Twitter, Facebook and www.thedaisyharris.com.
